One area for improvement!

Great feedback from the client and consultants on the job, but there's one thing I still can't get right - it's Anlaby NOT Analby! I may be the one outsider coming from Sheffield, but Anlaby still sounds better to me!

Contract Manager's Monthly Report

We have now completed the main building to the sure start on programme, with the implications of delays with YEDL to connect the service to site (supply and meter etc). The external works are due to complete this week, which are on programme. We have an additional item of work (tarmac playground area) to the no mans land, which is between anlaby primary and the sure start, which is expected to be completed within the next 2 weeks. We have had a meeting with the client and White Young Green (clients agent) today, who have stated that we may carry out some extra work to the existing playground and landscaping to the primary school, which will delay the reinstatement of the temporary road crossing, as if we are to reinstate the temporary road crossing, as planned, it would close off the area to the car park, hence we would not be able to complete the car park works. We have had a good relationship with the client and school, throughout both projects.
The site managers for Anlaby Primary was Bernard Porter and for the sure start Louis Bradley, who have both carried out the projects to the requirements required and on programme and to budget. We will receive confirmation on the extent of the variation of works to the playground and landscaping early next week, after the funding has been agreed.

Contract Manager's report

We have currently carrying out works to flood damage, which is 3 no phases. Phase 1 has now been completed and phase 2 is now in progress. On phase 2 it was decided that extra works would be carried out, which involved removing of all the existing floors and installing new floors, which has increased the cost and may have an effect on phase 3.

The United Charities are now in discussion, regarding funding to carry out the phase 3 works, due to the extra cost of the new floors. At present we are to carry out the works to the corridor on phase 3 only, until we have confirmation on finding. Mark Smee is the site manager, who has progressed at a very fast rate throughout phase 1 and 2 and has managed to carry out all the extra works to the floors, with only an increase of 4 weeks to programme – outstanding achievement.

We have had very good relations with the client and residents and have coordinated the temporary accommodation with the residents, until their flats have been fully completed, which they have moved back into.

Daily Diary

A meeting was held on site between myself Jed Holden and Tony Noble from East Riding Council to determine the soffitt details for all of the lower roofs. I pointed out that the current detail involved a huge amount of work which would result in a fairly poor end product. I suggested that we underdraw all the soffitts. Jed confirmed that this was accecptable and that once this was complete it may be required to fix false spars on the underside of the sofftit to create the desired appearance.

Portakabin atended site to collect the temporary classrooms from the Junior school site, everything went well and there where no reported problems.

Work in Progress - Cedar board cladding, 1st fix all trades, demolition of existing junior school, floor insulation to ground floor.

The information above forms part of a daily diary that I now complete on H&P Collaborate, our new web based extranet. This new system means all H&P staff can stay bang up to date with progress on our sites.

We're at decoration and third fix stage on this project, and external works are around 85% complete. The main contract is due to be completed in November as planned, but there is a possibility of follow on works that could run into February or March of 2010. We'll keep you posted here. Current subcontractors on site are all performing excellently. These include Linx Electrical, HF Brown (Mechanical), K M Davies (Flooring) and HD Decorators

New children's centre confirmed

The new children's centre on our current site has now been confirmed. As we are in the middle of a credit crunch we'll do our bit for recycling by continuing this blog to incorporate the forthcoming scheme!
